Chef to Home - private chef suppliers, Norfolk

A lot of my guests have been asking about our suppliers. I would like to be as transparent as possible, so I put together a list of businesses I use regularly.

Vegetables

Accent Fresh – they are based in Downham Market and pride themselves on sourcing the best of Norfolk’s produce. Asparagus, strawberries, tenderstem broccoli, micro herbs etc are all grown in Norfolk.

CC Wells – they are based in Dereham and have a huge warehouse. You don’t need a trade account to shop from them so you can show up, have a look around, pay for your goods and leave. If you live local, I recommend looking around. It’s like a proper veg market. They don’t deliver but you can order online, and they will collect your shopping so you would just have to pick up if you are short on time.

Meat

Necton Butchers – Andrew is my local butcher who sells exceptional quality of meat but keeps a very low profile on the internet.

Fish

Direct Seafood Colchester – you can set up an account with them and shop directly after the account is activated.

Amon Seafoods – small Norfolk business. I have not been using them long but so far very happy with their produce.

Dry Store / Dairy

Accent Fresh sells both dry store and dairy, but they only do it in bulk that sometimes too much for me. I often do smaller events when smaller quantities are enough. Tesco and Waitrose are my go-to stores.

Flour

I bake sourdough for my locals twice a month for sale and I also bake for my events. I order my flours in bulk from Shipton Mill.

Eggs and potato

From Clay Pit Farm in Necton. They are a mile away from where I live. I support other local businesses as much as possible.

Cheese

My favourite cheese shop is in Ely – Victorias Cheese. I used them before, but Ely is unfortunately a bit of a drive from me, so picking up from her is not sustainable with everything else I have to do for the events. However, I would highly recommend a visit if you are a cheese lover because what she does as an independent business is outstanding.

I source the cheeses and chutneys from the Goat Shed. They also have a nice café where I regularly do my meetings with fellow business owners.

Miscellaneous items

I shop a lot on Amazon for the bits and pieces I need. Like napkins, certain cleaning products, glucose and other bits for pastry and the list could go on…

Small business - big operations.
